Yesterday Carmina asked me why the Watermelon woman and the answer I gave at that point was not a satisfying answer. There were many options as I have watched millions and millions of films, but I suddenly became aware of myself the reason why I chose this course and why I am at WdKA, because Cheryl Dunye, stated in an interview that aspiring filmmakers should do audiovisual design rather than just going to film school. She invented a genre and I wanted people to feel the real significance of the film. Not just her being the first black Lesbian to direct a feature film. In the late fucking 90s. but the ridiculous merit behind her work. I love Cheryl Dunye, so the Watermelon Woman is a great movie to experiment with my type of webquest!
